Item Description

Original vintage version, manufactured circa 1962 by O-Luce in solid acrylic resin and black enameled steel base, model no. 281. The first edition is recognizable by the external round transformer as shown in the pictures. Very rare!
The enameled metal base contains the source of the light which is a neon tube. The light beam flows through the plexiglass body and emerges from the tip to direct the light downwards. The acrylic is moulded using heat and pressure into the C-shape which elegantly reveals the material’s ability to carry light around curves. This design won the Gold Medal at the 13th Milan Triennale, 1964.
