Pierre Paulin (1927-2009) was a French postwar designer who studied sculpture. But his study was not what influenced Paulin as he was a mediocre student and is a selfmade designer, so he claimed himself. Paulin saw the importance of the social role of design and for this he looked at Nordic modernity and simplicity for inspiration. A great talent of Paulin was that he could envision the concepts of his furniture in 3D in his mind. Paulin was someone who researched his design thoroughly.
