Item Description
Gordon Bunshaft–designed mahogany credenza, manufactured by De Coene for Banque Lambert (Belgium), c. 1960. Clean, midcentury monumental proportions executed in rich mahogany with crisply integrated chrome recessed pulls. Seven roomy drawers glide smoothly; a locking mechanism on the side secures the work surface and storage. Fully finished on all sides—ideal as a freestanding piece or room divider—and beautifully finished inside in oak veneer. Exceptional vintage condition with authentic patina consistent with age. A restrained, architectural statement by one of the era’s great designers, perfect for residential or corporate interiors. Since this piece was designed and made specially for the Lambert Bank it is very rare. Bunshaft was recognized for his contributions to architecture with numerous awards, including the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1988, which is considered the highest honor in the field. He passed away in 1990, leaving behind a legacy of timeless designs that continue to inspire architects and designers to this day.
