Item Description
A single, statement-making Martingala chair by Marco Zanuso for Arflex, marked with label. Upholstered in a striking yellow cotton – a 1960s Italian silhouette for maximalist and modernist interiors alike. The Martingala chair is a cult object among collectors of postwar Italian design. Named for its distinctive “martingale” strap detail, these chairs balance rigorous structural logic with a sense of levity. The original examples from the 1950s–1970s are celebrated for their compact footprint, ergonomic shell, and playful use of color. · High impact, low footprint: Perfect for a dressing room, gallery booth, or breakfast nook where space is at a premium but personality is required. · Color as investment: Yellow is currently trending across AD100 projects. This chair delivers that trend in an authentic, period-correct frame—not a reproduction. The original slightly faded removable cotton upholstery can be re-dyed or re-covered easily by your upholsterer. This is not a quiet chair. It announces itself. But for the right room—a white-walled apartment, a collector’s office, a boutique fitting room—a single Martingala in yellow cotton becomes the punctuation mark the space was missing. Each of our items can be re-upholstered by our in-house atelier in a fabric of choice. Please reach out for more information.
