Early Spider ceiling or wall lamp by Joe Colombo. The ‘Spider’ lamp series was designed by Joe Colombo in 1965 for Oluce, Italy, A series of floor and table lamps with enameled sheet metal reflector purposely designed to take a special horizontal spot light bulb. A distinctive plastic knob allows the reflector to tilt. This rare Spider ceiling lamp comes from the first production series. It is dated 1967, the very year the lamp won the Compasso d’Oro award. The lamp is in wonderful all original vintage condition, it comes inclusive the original Cornalux’ bulb. This bulb has a decorative shape (see photo) which ads to the design as it is visible through the opening of the reflector. (‘Cornalux’ bulbs are nowadays also available in LED).
