A striking architectural dining table manufactured by Metz & Co. in the Netherlands during the 1970s. The design consists of two square white laminate tops that slide freely within a white enameled steel frame, creating an ingenious and highly versatile construction. The table can be adjustedin length from 100 cm to 200 cm. While the tops can be positioned in multiple ways, the most practical arrangement places both elements in line within the upper steel rails, transforming the table from a compact square into an elegant elongated dining table. The shifting geometry creates a dynamic composition that is as much a sculptural object as it is a functional piece of furniture, making it an undeniable conversation piece. Its crisp orthogonal lines, restrained palette, and emphasis on structure over ornament strongly recall the design language of Gerrit Rietveld and the ideals of the De Stijl movement.
