Set of Six Smoked Mirror Glass and Brass Pedestals, 1970s France

Item Description

A rare and glamorous ensemble of six pedestals in graduated heights, made in France in the 1970s. Each is clad in smoked, bronze-toned mirror glass and framed in polished brass, and together they capture the confident luxury of 1970s French interior design. The pieces share a consistent architectural design: a square, mirrored top set within a slim brass frame, mirrored uprights, and a flat plinth base edged in brass. The tinted glass reflects the room in warm, smoky tones, so that the pedestals seem to dissolve into their surroundings while adding depth and a soft shimmer. The set comprises two tall pedestals, one medium-height pedestal and two low pedestals, joined by a larger low piece with a stepped base that works as a coffee table or central display surface. The set is highly versatile. Used together, the pieces form a dynamic, sculptural landscape in which to display art, ceramics, glass or plants, with the varied heights creating natural rhythm. Used separately, they work as plinths for sculpture, side tables or accents in a hallway, living room, boutique or gallery. The warm bronze and gold palette sits comfortably alongside Hollywood Regency, Art Deco revival and contemporary interiors. Complete sets like this are increasingly hard to find, and the quality of the mirror work and brass detailing is consistent across all six pieces.
