Item Description

Compact dresser designed by Cees Braakman for UMS Pastoe the Netherlands. Practical vintage modern design piece for a small apartment. The cabinet is marked on the back with a Pastoe stamp. Cees Braakman (1917-1995) was a Dutch furniture designer and one of the leading figures of mid-century modern design. He worked for the furniture manufacturer Pastoe for over 30 years, and his designs played a significant role in defining the company’s aesthetic. Braakman’s designs were characterized by their clean lines, use of new materials such as plywood and steel, and innovative storage solutions. He was particularly skilled at creating modular and flexible furniture that could adapt to the changing needs of its users. Today, Braakman’s designs are highly collectible and continue to influence contemporary furniture design.
