Item Description

Kristian Vedel was one of the first architects that took children’s furniture seriously and designed furniture in a simple, modern style, and still created on the premise of the child. The child’s chair is not just a copy of the “grown-up” furniture, but an unique creation taking point of departure in the various ways a child can move and use the furniture for playing as well as sitting. Original 1957 edition of this remarkable design.
Kristian Vedel (1923-2003) was a Danish industrial designer known for his clean and functional designs. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and later worked with several Danish design companies including Paustian and Architectmade. Vedel is best known for his iconic wooden bird sculpture, which he designed in 1959 and is still in production today. He also designed furniture, lighting, and tableware, always with a focus on simplicity and usability. Vedel’s designs are highly regarded for their timeless aesthetic and have earned him numerous accolades, including the ID Prize in 1960 and the Danish Design Council’s award for lifelong achievement in 1996.
