Item Description
Exceptional Post-Modern Teatro dining set designed by architect Aldo rossi and Luca Meda and produced by Italian furniture company Molteni. Beautiful timeless design in high quality gloss lacquered wood and original fabric upholstery in exceptional vintage condition. The rigor of the structure in lacquered wood is softened by the attention to proportions, to the padded surfaces, to the barely visible curves, as in the curl that frames the backrest. This beautiful set consists of a unique extendable dining table, a 2-seater bench, 2 armchairs and 4 side chairs. The monumental table is unique and most likely the only one ever produced. It is a masterpiece of design and execution with remarkable details like the multi facetted legs and complicated but very solid extension mechanism. The last photo is taken from the Molteni Museum website and shows this exact table. Aldo Rossi (1931 – 1997) a leading exponent of the postmodern movement. was an Italian architect and designer who achieved international recognition in four distinct areas: architectural theory, drawing, design, and product design. The Teatro chair was originally designed by Aldo Rossi and Luca Meda in 1983 for the Carlo Felice theater in Genova.
