Item Description

Stunning and rare Pipeline Bench by Erik Ole Jørgensen for Georg Jørgensen & Søn, Denmark, 1960.. The base is made in stainless steel and the top is upholstered in a grey/green Kvadrat fabric. The foam is not resilient anymore and the fabric has some stains. Reupholstery is recommended and available upon request. Erik Ole Jørgensen (1927-2002) was a Danish architect and furniture designer originally trained as a furniture upholsterer. As an upholsterer he discovered he had a keen sense for colour scales and colour combinations. Years later he started training to become a furniture designer, and in 1948 graduated from the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen. Armed with an uncanny sense of composition, his work signals a timeless, effortless elegance. Clean, uncluttered concepts in classics executed with expert detailing and craftsmanship. During his career, he designed both furniture and textiles. His simple, functional furniture ranks him among the best Danish furniture designers.
