Item Description

Luminator floor lamp by Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte, designed in 1933. Halogen 250 W with dimmer. Distinguished brushed nickel-plated finish. Marked with Fontana Arte label underneath the cast iron base. Pietro Chiesa was an Italian designer, artist and architect, active during the first half of the 20th century. He is best known for his work in glass and lighting design, which combined traditional techniques with modernist aesthetics. Chiesa was one of the founders of the company Fontana Arte, which produced his designs and became a major player in the Italian design scene. He also worked as an independent designer, collaborating with various Italian manufacturers. Chiesa’s work was exhibited in major Italian and international exhibitions, and can be found in the collections of several museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. He is considered one of the most important Italian designer of the early 20th century.
