Signed Vistosi. Ettore Sottsass was an Italian architect and designer who became known for his groundbreaking contributions to the Memphis design movement in the 1980s. Born in 1917 in Innsbruck, Austria, Sottsass studied architecture in Turin before launching his own studio in Milan in 1947. His work spanned a wide range of disciplines, including architecture, industrial design, ceramics, and jewelry design. Sottsass’s designs often featured bright colors, bold patterns, and unconventional materials, reflecting his interest in pushing the boundaries of traditional design aesthetics. His work had a significant influence on postmodern design and continues to inspire designers today. Sottsass passed away in 2007 at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of innovation and creativity.
