Item Description

The Louvre pendant was originally designed by Poul Henningsen in 1957 for the Adventist church at Skodsborg Hydro Denmark upon request by the architect Charles Gjerrild who requested Henningsen to design an economic yet decorative pendant. Poul Henningsen used his earlier designed ‘Spiral’ lamp (1942) as an inspiration.
Poul Henningsen’s geometrical, spherical design is based on the principle of illuminating all surfaces at the same angle. This ensures uniform light around the fixture, illuminating both walls and ceiling. Matte painted undersurfaces and glossy top surfaces result in an attractive reflection of the diffused light, creating uniform light distribution around the fixture.
We have two identical lamps in stock, price is per item. Both lamps are newly wired and come with new fabric covered wire (of distinct better quality) from the original manufacturer and a new original Louis Poulsen canopy.
