Early all original grey leather Wassily chair designed by Marcel Breuer, circa 1925. Manufactured circa 1960 by Gavina in Italy. Made in beautiful grey saddle leather that compliments this radical modern design beautifully. The chromed tubular steel frame is solid and preserves its original gloss, an excellent indicator of the unmatched build quality of this original Gavina chair. The edges of the leather show the brown natural leather color typical for natural tanned leather. Later Wassily chairs have grey or black edges from the chemical leather tanning process that replaced natural tanning circa 1970. We had a pair, the second chair sold in our gallery recently. Marked with the Marcel Breuer signature stamped in the leather. Remarkable all original vintage condition.
