Item Description

Iconic “S Chair” model 275 designed by Verner Panton for Thonet, Germany, circa 1965. One of Panton’s earliest and most sculptural chair designs, the Model 275 beautifully captures the designer’s fascination with fluid organic forms and innovative seating concepts. Like his inspirer Gerrit Rietveld, Panton dreamed of a seamless form that supported the human body from a single gesture. Thonet, the legendary masters of bentwood, turned his radical vision into reality. Produced by Thonet during the formative years of postwar European modernism, this rare example represents an important chapter in Danish design history and the evolution of experimental furniture design in the 20th century. Marked with Thonet label. An exceptional collector’s piece that works equally well in minimalist, modernist, or eclectic interiors.
