Item Description
Iconic elephant hide grey leather CAB dining chairs designed by Mario Bellini in 1977 for Cassina. Very early examples with thin flat seat bottom instead of the later thick bottom in nice vintage condition.
The Cab chair provides remarkable comfort and a certain degree of flexibility for the sitter. Bellini’s Cab chair essentially consists of two elements that are completely distinct, a leather cover is stretched over a bare tubular steel chair frame like a tight skin, the cover can be opened or closed via four zippers running along the inside of the legs under the seat. One of the most popular designs of 20th-century, a versatile masterpiece that fits seamlessly into any environment and will look absolutely wonderful among Mid-Century classic design. Although Bellini is an architect much of his work has been in industrial design. He has won the Compasso d’Oro five times, and several of his designs are included in the Permanent Collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
