Item Description

A refined Mid-Century Modern office chair, model 3117, designed by the renowned Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen. This example was produced in 1978 and combines Jacobsen’s characteristic sculptural approach with the functionality required of a professional office chair. The chair features a five-star chromed base with casters and a fully functional height-adjustment mechanism, allowing the seat height to be adjusted from 30.7 to 36.2 inches (78–92 cm). Its compact proportions and elegant silhouette make it equally suitable for a home office, study, or sophisticated workspace. The chair is marked with a Fritz Hansen label underneath the seat, confirming its original manufacture. It is presented in very nice vintage condition, with traces of use consistent with its age and history. There are some slight marks on the seat, minor crackling in the lacquer on the backrest, and some rust spots on the chromed base. The height-adjustment mechanism is fully functional. A highly appealing example of Jacobsen’s office furniture, combining Danish design heritage, practical functionality and an understated sculptural aesthetic.
