Item Description
Rare modernist armchairs designed in 1964 by Dutch designer Martin Visser for ‘t Spectrum. The chairs are model SZ48, documented in several brochures and the book ‘t Spectrum. These were only produced from 1964-1965 so they are very hard to find. Fully restored with new foam, new springs and new old stock 1960s wool upholstery. Great architectural shape and surprisingly comfortable. Priced as a pair. Reference: ‘t Spectrum Moderne meubelvormgeving en naoorlogs idealisme. Uitgeverij 010, Rotterdam 2002. Martin Visser (1922-2009) is one of the most renown Dutch furniture designers. Through his work for the furniture department of De Bijenkorf, Visser was asked in 1954 to become head designer at Spectrum. This turns out to be a big hit; his sleek designs and functional approach to design have inspired the collection for a long time.
