Exceptionally rare Gerrit Rietveld original R25 sleeping sofa made in spruce wood, designed in 1936 for Metz & Co. The back folds down to a bed and the seat covers a storage compartment. A similar example of this sofa is part of the Gerrit Rietveld collection of the Centraal Museum in Utrecht. The first owner was a dentist named Plantijn in Haarlem, The Netherlands in the 1950s. The last photo shows this actual sofa in the family Plantijn living room in 1961. Comes with an authenticity confirmation by the Centraal Museum, Utrecht, The Netherlands.
