Item Description
Also known as the time-life chair, this iconic piece was originally created for the executive floors of New York City’s Time-Life Building. The generously sized Eames Executive Chair (1960) swivels, and has a seat with thick, plush cushions. This is an authentic Eames Lobby Chair by Vitra. The chair has been expertly reupholstered in extra soft premium black leather by our in-house professionals. The chromed aluminum frame is generally in excellent condition, the base has a few minor chrome chips revealing the age of the chair. The structural design of the Lobby Chair makes it comparable to the Lounge Chair in terms of comfort. Not just for big business or big people, the Eames Executive Chair makes a statement – and offers luxurious comfort – in the living room, home office, or den. This luxurious chair is an example of Charles Eames’s belief that “details are not details; they make the product.” Generously sized, the executive work chair features a lightweight aluminum frame and base, and finely detailed leather upholstery accented with covered buttons and edge details typical of traditional fine furniture. In 1972, the executive chair made the news when notoriously fussy chess genius Bobby Fischer included this chair among his many demands for his legendary 1972 world championship match with Russian master Boris Spassky. When Spassky got a look at the chair, he demanded one for himself, and a second chair had to be shipped pronto to Iceland, where the match was being held.
