Item Description

Monumental square low table with a gridded architectural chromed steel base supporting a glass top. A classic Tobia Scarpa design for Gavina/Knoll International. Complete with the leather inserts in the legs supporting the glass top. These are usually missing on vintage examples of this design. We have a total of 5 of these magnificent tables available. A new matching glass top is included. Tobia Scarpa, an influential Italian architect and designer, is renowned for his timeless contributions to modern design. Born in 1935, Scarpa emerged from the legacy of his father, Carlo Scarpa, inheriting a deep understanding of craft and architectural detail. Known for blending traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics, Tobia collaborated with his wife, Afra, producing iconic furniture for esteemed brands like Cassina, Gavina, and B&B Italia. His celebrated designs, such as this table but also the Soriana sofa and the Pigreco chair, epitomize a perfect balance of functionality and sculptural form.
