Item Description
Dirk van Sliedregt oval side table with textured glass and rattan for Rohé Noordwolde, The Netherlands. Beautiful minimalistic Dutch Mid-Century Modern table. Dirk van Sliedregt (1920 – 2010) combined his work as a furniture designer with his work as a teacher at Dutch art schools, including the Academy of Enschede and the Rietveld Academy. After 1945 he started experimenting with rattan and subsequently developed some chairs that were soon noticed by the Gebroeders Jonkers furniture factory in Noordwolde. Initially, they were made entirely of rattan, but from 1952, however, often in combination with a metal tubular frame. Van Sliedregt’s designs excel in their apparent simplicity, but on closer inspection they are extremely complicated.
