An exceptionally well-preserved example of the iconic PK55 work and dining table, designed by Danish architect and designer Poul Kjærholm in 1957 and manufactured by E. Kold Christensen. This rare early production example is distinguished by the original stamped E. Kold Christensen maker’s mark on the inside of the frame, confirming its provenance and early manufacture. The largest version of Kjærholm’s celebrated PK55 design, this table perfectly demonstrates the designer’s signature balance of architectural precision, refined materials, and understated elegance. The generously proportioned tabletop is crafted from beautifully grained ash wood, showcasing the natural character and warmth of the timber, while the elegant matte chrome-plated steel base provides a striking contrast and a sense of visual lightness. Originally conceived as a functional work table, the PK55 has become one of Kjærholm’s most admired designs, equally suited to sophisticated residential interiors, offices, and architectural spaces. This table comes from an important private collection of early Poul Kjærholm pieces, carefully assembled by an art-loving couple for their architectural villa in The Netherlands.
