Rare Early Franco Albini Desk for Knoll, Designed in 1928

On request

Item Description

A rare early example of Franco Albini’s iconic desk, designed in 1928, distinguished by a refined and seldom-seen construction detail. Unlike later examples, including the contemporary version produced by Knoll and most examples available on the market today, this early variant features small chromed steel tabs integrated into the upper corners of the frame. These elegantly engineered details secure the original glass top while maintaining the purity of the design, offering a cleaner and more sophisticated solution than the black plastic feet and supports found on later versions. The desk retains its original glass top and lacquered wood finish, with signs of age and use, including scratches, minor lacquer losses, and small chips in several areas. The original glass has a few very minor chips. If desired, restoration can be carried out prior to shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our in-house restoration atelier. A rare and distinctive early interpretation of Albini’s design, notable for its subtle construction details and exceptional refinement.
