Item Description

A Prismatic table in white enameled aluminum by Isamu Noguchi for Vitra. The table design was based on geometric forms and has an interesting three-legged base with a hexagonal top. Made of folded sheet aluminium inspired by Japanese paper folding techniques. Designed in 1957, Vitra Edition 2002. Marked with label.
Isamu Noguchi was one of the twentieth century’s most important and critically acclaimed sculptors. Through a lifetime of artistic experimentation, he created sculptures, gardens, furniture and lighting designs, ceramics, architecture, landscapes, and set designs. His work, at once subtle and bold, traditional and modern, set a new standard for the reintegration of the arts. He designed the Zenith Radio Nurse, the iconic original baby monitor now held in many museum collections. The Radio Nurse was Noguchi’s first major design commission and he called it “my only strictly industrial design”.
