Item Description

Rare Poul Kjaerholm PK62 side table with frame of brushed chromed steel, original top of Porsgrunn marble. Designed by Poul Kjaerholm 1968 and made by E. Kold Christensen, marked with manufactures mark on the inside of the frame. Often used as side table for the PK24 chaise longue, we offer the matching PK24 separately. Porsgrunn marble was offered during the 1970’s, before the supply of Porsgrunn was extinguished (reportedly) with the completion of Arne Jacobsens Denmark’s Nationalbank 1978, Denmarks Central bank. This marble is the result of the long extinct Porsgrunn coral beds, tempered by time and fine hammered finish. Today, Porsgrunn tables are among collectors` most sought after pieces and makes this piece very valuable. This piece is part of an important collection of early Kjaerholm pieces carefully curated by an art loving couple for their architectural villa in The Netherlands. The villa is sold and their other house and art museum don’t match with the Kjaerholm aesthetics. We will list more pieces of this collection soon.
