Item Description

A Radical Light Sculpture in Stainless Steel & Solid Methacrylate. In the brief, explosive lifespan of the Roman studio New Lamp (1969–1973), design broke free from the predictable. Under the visionary hands of Fabrizio Cocchia and Gianfranco Fini, lighting became pure sculpture—radical, architectural, and unapologetically avant-garde. This extraordinary design, attributed to Fabrizio Cocchia and Gianfranco Fini, is not a directional task lamp. It is an environmental light sculpture. The 3 light bulbs illuminate the plexiglass creating an atmospheric, shadowless radiance that transforms a sideboard, desk, or credenza into a gallery installation. Unlike mass-produced mid-century lighting, Cocchia and Fini operated at the intersection of Pop Art, Kinetic sculpture, and industrial experimentation. This original 1969 example remains in good vintage condition, exhibiting light patina consistent with age—no structural damage. The wiring may be original; we recommend inspection by a qualified electrician for continued use . Only one available. Ships professionally crated from Europe. A signature is required upon delivery.
