Item Description
A beautifully preserved early example of Poul Kjærholm’s iconic PK61 occasional table, designed in 1955 for E. Kold Christensen in Denmark. The table features a refined white honed marble top with distinctive natural gold veining, set within a minimalist frame of matte chrome-plated steel. The contrast between the cool, architectural steel and the organic character of the marble is quintessential Kjærholm—understated, sculptural, and exceptionally elegant. The PK61 is an important work in Kjærholm’s early oeuvre and exemplifies his pioneering approach to combining industrial materials with natural stone. Its restrained geometric form allows the marble to become the focal point, with each vein and tonal variation making the surface unique. The frame is marked with the E. Kold Christensen logo, confirming its original production. A sophisticated and highly collectible example of one of Kjærholm’s most enduring designs, particularly appealing to collectors of Danish modern and mid-century Scandinavian furniture.
