Theo Ruth for Artifort, ‘Congo’ lounge chairs in black enameled wood and checkered yellow fabric, the Netherlands, 1952. These chairs have a unique construction, forced by tension and gravity. The back and seating are two separate elements that fit together to form the chair. This design was inspired by African chairs, hence the name “Congo”. Please note that we advise reupholstery before use. If you wish this can be done before shipping by our experienced craftsman in our own in-house restoration atelier.
