Item Description
Few designs balance art and function as seamlessly as Isamu Noguchi’s Freeform Sofa. Originally conceived in 1946 and produced in very limited numbers today by Vitra, this is not just a sofa—it’s a conversation, a contour, a piece of postwar design history. This particular example is made even more exceptional by its upholstery: Vidar 4 by Raf Simons for Kvadrat, a woven, wool-like textile known for its depth, durability, and quiet luxury. Presented here in a rich brown color for the sofa and a luminous sand tone for the ottoman, the set creates a subtle, intentional contrast. The sofa grounds the space; the ottoman lifts it. Together, they echo Noguchi’s organic, landscape-inspired forms. Condition & Markings: Both pieces are in great vintage condition, clean and structurally sound, with clear Vitra manufacturing tags present. The only note is a tiny rub mark on the top back of the sofa—shown clearly in the photo—barely noticeable in person and easy to live with. No stains, tears, or odors. Dimensions (approx.): Sofa: 76”W x 30”D x 28”H Ottoman: 30”W x 24”D x 16”H · Designed by Isamu Noguchi for Vitra · Upholstered in premium Vidar 4 by Raf Simons for Kvadrat · Rare two-tone configuration (brown + sand) · Fully marked with authentic Vitra tags · Honest vintage character—ready for continued use and admiration
